LONDON 15 September 2020 — Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires to London Senen T. Mangalile led the opening of “Bliss,” the first solo art exhibit of Filipino artist Jayson Cortez held at Gallery 8 at St. James in London’s West End, the heart of the UK capital’s thriving art scene, on 09 September 2020.
During the opening, guest of honor Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri conveyed his felicitations via video call from Manila to Jayson, who was himself attending the opening of his show from his studio in Bulacan. Sen. Zubiri hailed the world-class talent and creativity of Filipino artists, as demonstrated by the mounting of Jayson’s works in London. Chargé d’Affaires Mangalile, for his part, made a pitch for greater public funding and support for Filipino artists.
"Bliss" is a collection of eight new works which Jayson says are a visual representation of his state of bliss, as commissioned by Singapore gallery One East Asia to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The exhibition ran from 08 to 11 September 2020. END
