PH Consulate General in Xiamen Provides Care Packages to Stranded Filipino Seafarers in Fujian Province

XIAMEN 28 September 2020 – The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen sent care packages to the 11 stranded Filipino seafarers onboard Ocean Star 86, and to the five seafarers onboard Chinese fishing vessel Maria P on 25 September 2020 and on 26 September 2020, respectively. The care packages included ready to eat noodles, canned goods, alcohol, water, soap, and Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs).

Vice Consul Elaine Mae V. Laruan-Hernandez spoke with the seafarers from the two Chinese fishing vessels, Ocean Star 86 and Maria P, and was assured that they are well and looking forward to their eventual repatriation. Maria P Chief Mate Reymund Paje also added that their salaries are given on time.

Meanwhile, the Consulate General is continuing with its efforts to facilitate the repatriation of the above-mentioned seafarers together with other stranded Filipinos in Fujian province as soon as possible. END
