DFA Repatriates 221 Overseas Filipinos Affected by the Pandemic in Dubai

DUBAI 30 September 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, repatriated 221 Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Dubai via Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR 0659 on 24 September 2020. The OFs, including several children and two infants, arrived at Ninoy Aquino Airport (NAIA) at around 08:25 AM (Manila time) on 25 September 2020.

The said OFs availed of the repatriation assistance of the Department after finding themselves in distress due to the job displacements caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Also, included were OFs availing of the ongoing immigration amnesty of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government for those who have overstayed in the country.  

With this latest batch of OFs, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai has so far facilitated the repatriation of 2,233Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates who were affected by the pandemic.

Those who wish to avail of the DFA’s repatriation assistance likewise received free COVID-19 testing and quarantine upon arrival in the Philippines. END
