CAIRO 30 September 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Cairo, through its cooperation with the Filipino Community in Ethiopia (FCE), distributed food care packs for 30 Filipinos in Ethiopia, on the sidelines of its Consular Outreach from 24 to 26 September 2020 at the Sheger Royal Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The food care packs were funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila.
The identification of beneficiaries as well as the purchase and distribution of food items were made possible through the Embassy’s close coordination with FCE through its President, Ms. Elijah Destacamento.
The recipients included Filipino workers who experienced reduction in their salaries and work benefits, senior citizens, and those who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Embassy and the FCE will continue to extend similar assistance to other affected Filipinos in Ethiopia, especially those living and/or working in regions far from the capital. END
