07 May 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said today that noted acapella chorale Coro Cantabile wowed Malaysian audiences during concerts at the Damansara Performing Arts Center in Kuala Lumpur on May 4 and 6. 

The chorale was at their best in performing their wide repertoire, which delighted audiences, which included Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya and other Embassy officers and staff.

The chorale also gave their audiences a taste of Filipino culture through folk songs and contemporary hits, as well as showcased their mastery in religious, theater and international songs.

“Among the many things that I enjoy doing as an Ambassador, I take much pride in introducing Filipino artists.  As you may be aware, the Philippines is blessed with a rich tapestry in the performing arts.  We have produced international class artists in many fronts, may it be pop music, Broadway and the West End, opera, and in musical composition and arrangements, among others,” Ambassador Malaya said in his remarks before the show.

 
“I am very sure that the Coro will keep you fully entertained with their beautiful harmonies and I am certainly looking forward to developing more opportunities for my fellow Filipinos to share their many skills and talents with the people of Malaysia, and also Malaysian artists to also do the same, not only through performances, but also through master classes, performing camps, workshops and collaborations,” he added.

 
After their concerts in Kuala Lumpur, the group moves to Klang for another set of performances.

Coro Cantabile (an Italian phrase meaning a choir that sings smoothly and beautifully) is the choral group of The Master's Chorus Organization Inc.

The chorale was established in March 2002 as a non-stock organization with the purpose of creating excellent choral a cappella music that will touch and uplift lives.

With its wide repertoire of classical, pop, original Pilipino music (OPM), gospel, international and local songs, the group has had its European Tour in 2005, 2007 and 2008 and its Asian Tour annually since 2005. It was also awarded a Gold Medal by the UNESCO in Athens, Greece in 2005. 

Coro Cantabile regularly performs at the Madz et al hosted by the Philippine Madrigal Singers.

Under the skilful leadership of co-founder and choirmistress, Sharon Abesamis, the choir also conducts workshops, trainings and music seminars locally and internationally.  END
