Filipino Teacher in Brunei Wins Top Prize of NCCA QuaranTinig Online Singing Competition

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 06 October 2020, - Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Christopher B. Montero personally congratulated Mr. Nolito C. Gregorio, a Filipino teacher in Brunei Darussalam, for winning the top prize in the Sentro Rizal QuaranTinig: Patimpalak sa Pag-awit organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in celebration of the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2020.

Representing Sentro Rizal Brunei, Mr. Gregorio’s heart-warming rendition of the song "Magsimula Ka" composed by Gines Tan and sung by Leo Valdez bested hundreds of entries submitted by 34 other Sentros Rizal for the online singing competition of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

A total of 17 entries were submitted to the online competition by Sentro Rizal Brunei.

In a courtesy call at the Embassy, a Certificate of Recognition was presented by Ambassador Montero to Mr. Gregorio, who has been teaching in the Sultanate for 20 years, on his momentous win and for bringing honor and pride to the Filipino community in Brunei Darussalam.

The Ambassador likewise conveyed his appreciation to the 16 Filipinos from Brunei Darussalam who participated and showcased their creative and artistic talent in the competition. END
