PH Consulate General in Toronto Officials Appear as Guests on TV Natin Canada

TORONTO 21 September 2020 – Philippine Consul General to Toronto Orontes Castro and Consul Edwin Gil Mendoza appeared on TV Natin Canada, a talk show hosted by Filipino-Canadians Allan Basa and Laila Elcano, on 19 September 2020. 

Consul General Castro explained the various consular services offered to the public by the Consulate General and stated that despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Consulate General continues to provide services especially to Overseas Filipinos (OFs) and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).  He also mentioned that several preventive measures against COVID-19 have been in place such as the appointment system for effective crowd control management considering the limited space of the Consulate General premises, proper health protocols for the safety and health of the clients including wearing of masks, hand-washing and proper social distancing, and the filling out of Health Declaration Forms for clients upon arrival at the Consulate General.

Aside from consular services, Consul General Castro also talked about increasing merchandise trade between Ontario and the Philippines and the promotion of Filipino cultural heritage given the huge Filipino diaspora in the Consulate General’s jurisdictions of Ontario and Manitoba.
