PH Consul General in Los Angeles Conducts Consular Retooling Seminar Series

 Los Angeles Retooling 1

LOS ANGELES 26 October 2020 – Following the resumption of “new normal” operations of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, it also resumed its annual consular retooling seminar series, with a kickoff session on visa and dual citizenship processing on 06 October 2020.

The first session sought to update and harmonize the implementation of Philippine visa and dual citizenship rules and regulations to better serve the Filipino-American public in Southern California, Southern Nevada and Arizona.

The Consulate General’s Administrative Officer, Vice Consul Joan Macrise C. Corrado served as this year’s resource speaker and facilitator.

As part of its COVID-19 pandemic containment measures, the Philippine Government barred the entry of foreign nationals to the Philippines on 22 March 2020 with a few exceptions. This resulted in the surge of dual citizenship and visa applications received by the Consulate General from all over the United States.

The retooling seminar is part of the Consulate General’s broader objective to sustain efficient and timely consular service to our kababayan on the West Coast and beyond.  A more recent program along this line is the conduct of services every Saturday, beginning 19 September 2020, specifically to serve the more than 2,000 dual citizenship applications received by the Consulate General.
