8 May 2014 – Philippine Consul General in New York Mario De Leon, Jr. visited the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on April 15 and met with the executives of the NYSE Euronext, owner of NYSE.
Those he met were Mr. Bruce Lee (Global Chief Information Officer & Executive Vice President), Mr. Paul Simonetti (Vice President for Technologies, Mr. John Tuttle (Managing Director, Global Affairs & Government Relations), and Ms. Elizabeth Arreglado (Senior Vice President, Global Head of Compensation, Talent Management & HRIS). Also joining the meeting was Deputy Consul General Zaldy Patron.
The executives briefed the Consulate General officials about NYSE Euronext Philippines, a subsidiary of NYSE Euronext that provides quality assurance as well as back office and technical support for the latter’s commercial technology business and clients. The Philippine subsidiary has been in operation for five years now and employs 130 people.
NYSE Euronext regards its Philippine operations as a “very pleasant success story” for the company. According to Mr. Simmonetti, who oversees the Philippine operations, the Filipino employees’ work ethics, loyalty and competence are “second to none.”
The executives also shared their observations on the challenges NYSE Euronext had encountered in the Philippines and on how the country could further improve its capability and attractiveness in the business process management (BPM) industry.
The Consul General thanked them for sharing with him their experiences in the Philippines and he welcomed their inputs on how the country’s BPM industry could become more competitive. END.
