PH Consulate General in Xiamen Conducts Lecture on Mental Health Impact of COVID-19

XIAMEN 06 November 2020 – In response to the growing effect of COVID-19 on mental health, the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully organized a lecture entitled “Mental Health Impact of COVID-19” at the Bulwagang Bagumbayan of the Consulate General on 04 November 2020. The lecture was intended to help the Consulate General’s personnel and their families understand the imperceptible effect of the virus on human psychology and how to cope with it.
The event’s Special Guest Speaker was Dr. Lijun Ding, M.D., MPH, Deputy Director of the Xiamen Xianyue Hospital and the Xiamen Mental Health Center and Professor of Psychiatry at the Xiamen Medical College and Fujian Medical University. She headed the Xiamen’s psychiatric team sent to Wuhan Province during the outbreak of COVID-19 in China early this year.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chris Hemady, a Filipino practicing physician in Xiamen and Fuzhou cities for more than 20 years, and a medical consultant of the Consulate General’s former and current personnel, lectured on the latest developments on COVID-19 in Fujian province, existing health protocols in Xiamen, and the progress of vaccine development in China.
The lecture was very informative, enlightening, and will be very useful for the Consulate General’s personnel and dependents in terms of maintaining a healthy, balanced, and stable state of mind amidst the pandemic. END
