PH Consulate General in Xiamen Successfully Repatriates Three Filipino Seafarers Onboard MV Bulk Norway

XIAMEN 13 November 2020 — Three Filipino crew of MV Bulk Norway were repatriated on 11 November 2020 from Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, PROC to the Philippines via Tokyo, Japan. The repatriation was arranged and assisted by the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.

The seafarers have been onboard MV Bulk Norway for more than 15 months before they were able to dry-dock at Fujian Huandong Shipyard on 01 October 2020. They were supposed to set sail for Australia but were not able to due to travel restrictions because of COVID-19 pandemic.

While stranded in Chinese waters, the Filipino seafarers requested the assistance of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen and the latter made arrangements for the repatriation to the Philippines despite the travel restrictions.
