BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 16 NOVEMBER 2020 - In line with its mandate to promote the welfare of the Filipino diaspora, the Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, in partnership with the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) of the Philippines, conducted a Financial Literacy and Investment Opportunities webinar on the Premyo Bonds 2 (PB2) offering for Overseas Filipinos in Brunei, which was streamed live on its official Facebook page. 

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador Christopher B. Montero encouraged Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Brunei to actively explore feasible investment opportunities to update their sources of income at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has devastated livelihoods and economies all over the world. He also noted the value of the webinar in providing information and awareness on secure investment options for OFWs. The Ambassador emphasized that investment offerings like the Premyo Bonds 2 could enable Overseas Filipinos to secure a better future for their families, while supporting the economic recovery programs and projects of the Philippine Government at the same time.

The resource speakers for the webinar were experts in the field of banking and financial management. Philippine Deputy Treasurer Atty. Erwin D. Sta. Ana introduced the second offering of Premyo Bonds and provided an overview of its general features. Development Bank of the Philippines Assistant Vice President of Lemuel Imperial presented the raffle mechanics of PB2, while Investment Banking Group of the Land Bank of the Philippines First Vice President Gonzalo Benjamin Boholan discussed how to invest in PB2.  

The webinar is one of the activities under the Embassy’s Gender and Development (GAD) program for the year. These initiatives are conducted regularly by the Embassy for the benefit of Filipinos in Brunei, particularly for their empowerment and enhanced productivity. END
