Sentro Rizal Toronto Launches Padayon Art Competition at the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board

TORONTO 23 November 2020 – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) launched Sentro Rizal Toronto’s Padayon Art Competition titled “Paghilom at Pag-asa Mula sa Pandemya” (Healing and Hope from the Pandemic) on 18 November 2020.  The Art Competition is Sentro Rizal Toronto’s project in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). 

The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto highly appreciated the decision of the DPCDSB to launch the Art Competition with the Consulate General on 18 November 2020, despite the postponement of the initial in-person launch.  The Announcement on the Art Competition was posted on the official website of the DPCDSB, with an online link at https://www.dpcdsb.org/news/events.   

The launch officially started the Call for Entries for the art competition in the DPCDSB. To date, the Philippine Consulate General has been receiving inquiries from interested students under the DPCDSB. Plans are underway for the entries to be received in the art competition to be exhibited next year in schools, libraries, and in Filipino Canadian community centers and in various Filipino Canadian community organizations’ events leading to the Quincentennial Commemorations of the Philippines.
