09 May 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Macau SAR and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO-Macau) celebrated Labor Day with over a hundred overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in St. Joseph Auditorium in Macau on May 01.
This year’s theme, “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino,” was showcased during an exciting bartending exhibition while free medical and reflexology consultations were held at the sidelines. The event also included a wellness seminar, a portrait painting demonstration, as well as various performances from different Filipino community groups. A simple lunch was shared and served by the attendees.
The 2014 Labor Day celebrations are a tradition with the Filipino community in Macau. It is considered a celebration of the successes of OFWs while providing a means to improve and upgrade their skills. The event ended with the awarding of certificates to basic Cantonese language training graduates and Wellness Seminar attendees. These seminars and classes were held during weekends leading up to the labor day celebrations. END
