12 May 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Doha, Qatar participated in the ASEAN Drawing and Painting Competition of the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) held on May 03 at the Indonesian Embassy in Doha.

 

The contest had separate categories for children ages 6 to 10, 11 to 14 and 15 to 18.  It was aimed to raise the awareness of ASEAN among the communities of the member-countries represented in Qatar.

 

Four finalists of the Philippine Embassy won in the competition.  Nichole Billedo bagged the 2nd prize of the 6-10 years old category.  Hanin Maong of the Philippine International School Qatar and Elaizabelle Jem Bisenio of the Philippine School Doha won the 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively, of the 11-14 years old category.  Christine Manalo of the Philippine International School Qatar was awarded the 1st prize in the 15-18 years old category.

Since its establishment on December 12, 2011, ACD has organized activities to foster camaraderie among the ASEAN Missions in Doha.  Currently, there are seven ASEAN member states with resident embassies in Doha, namely: Brunei Darussalam,  Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
