13 May 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing hosted a gathering with the Filipino community in Chongqing on May 1 to celebrate Labor Day.

In her opening remarks, Philippine Consul General Ma. Amelita C. Aquino expounded on this year’s theme “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.” She also cited other virtues of the Filipino worker and exhorted the audience to continue their professionalism and dedication to their work since they, the Filipino overseas worker, exemplify the best of the Filipino to the world.

The Consul General also announced the start of the Overseas Voting Registration which will run from 6 May 2014 to 31 October 2015. She encouraged all Filipinos in the area to register and vote in the upcoming 2016 Presidential election.

The games also helped enliven the gathering. END
