PH Embassy in Tokyo Explores Areas of Cooperation with the City of Katsushika

TOKYO 17 December 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo explores possible areas of cooperation with the City of Katsushika.
Accompanied by the Assembly Speaker and other city officials, the Honorable AOKI Katsunori, Mayor of Katsushika City was received by Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V on 15 December 2020 at the Philippine Embassy.
They exchanged views on ways to further strengthen the relations of the city with the Embassy and the Philippines in general, through active people-to-people exchanges. This was after the city successfully hosted, for the first time, the Philippine Expo in October this year.
At the outset, Mayor Katsunori conveyed his gratitude to Ambassador Laurel for choosing Shin-Koiwa Park in Katsushika City as the venue for the Philippine Expo 2020. “It was a great opportunity for local residents to learn more about Filipino culture, consistent with the city’s advocacy to promote international exchange”, the Mayor said.
Ambassador Laurel thanked the Mayor for his visit and echoed his desire to pursue stronger relations. Ambassador Laurel also shared his views on possible areas of cooperation and platforms that can be utilized to pursue these exchanges.
The City of Katsushika is currently engaged in various international exchange programs with other countries and it endeavors to expand its partnerships with Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines. Currently, around 1,600 Filipinos live in Katsushika City. END
