TEL AVIV 22 February 2021 – In response to restrictions on face-to-face meetings, the Philippine Embassy in Israel together with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Office (OWWA), and Social Security System (SSS) conducted its first online Post-arrival Orientation Seminar on 20 February 2021. Around 85 newly-arrived caregivers attended the PAOS.

Philippine Ambassador to Israel Macairog S. Alberto opened the PAOS with a short message, urging Filipinos to spend their time in Israel wisely. “If you abide by the laws of Israel and avoid vices, you will surely reach your goals in life. Remember, our beloved country is still the Philippines. Your stay in Israel is only temporary. Just focus on your work and you will easily achieve your dreams for your families. The Embassy is always here to assist and guide you,” said Ambassador Macairog.

Labor Attaché Rodolfo Gabasan, who moderated the online PAOS, added, “I encourage all newly-arrived caregivers to make time for PAOS, so that you can learn more about the services of the different offices under the Embassy, your workers’ rights and benefits, and available assistance to address your and your family’s needs.”

Welfare Officer Dina Ponciano discussed the various services of OWWA while Mr. Edre Bayno presented the benefits of being an SSS member. Consul Reichel Quiñones gave an overview of the Consular and Assistance-to-Nationals Services of the Embassy.
