15 May 2014- The Philippine Embassy in Budapest began its overseas voters registration on May 6 at the Chancery in Budapest. The Embassy’s first registrant, Ms. Dayanghirang Tamayo-Milic, a Filipina from Batangas married to a Serbian national, travelled from Belgrade, Serbia, about 380 km away from Budapest, to register as an overseas voter.
The Embassy announced the overseas voters registration period on its social media sites such as the Budapest Pinoy and the Philippine Embassy, Budapest page on Facebook. The Embassy also sent e-mails to Filipinos in Hungary and the countries under its jurisdiction to inform them of the registration period. An information sheet on containing pertinent details of the registration process was also sent to the Filipinos in these areas.
The Embassy is also organizing several field registration activities in Romania, Serbia and in the other countries under its jurisdiction in order to register Filipinos who live far from the Embassy in Budapest. END
