PH Ambassador to Thailand and Chiang Mai Governor Discuss Strengthening Cooperation for Filipino Community

BANGKOK 07 April 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz-Paredes called on Mr. Chaeronrit Sanguansat, Governor of the Province of Chiang Mai, on 02 April 2021 and discussed ways to strengthen PH ties with the Chiang Mai Provincial Government.
In the first of the series of calls on the provincial governors of Thailand, Ambassador Paredes thanked Governor Chaeronrit and the people of Chiang Mai for their hospitality and care for the estimated 1,500 members of the Filipino community in Chiang Mai. The Ambassador also expressed appreciation for the Governor’s assurances that his government stands open and ready to assist the Filipino community as all foreign residents, including Filipinos, are like family to the people of Chiang Mai.
Ambassador Paredes and Governor Chaeronrit also discussed the economic strengths and strategies of Chiang Mai, the province’s successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic, and other contingency measures of the Chiang Mai Government.
The courtesy call was held back-to-back with the Philippine Embassy’s consular outreach mission for the Filipino community in Chiang Mai on 03 April 2021. END
