Philippine Ambassador to Spain Assumes Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Madrid, Pushes for greater ASEAN awareness, cultural understanding in Spain

MADRID 11 May 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe J. Lhuillier formally received the Chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Committee in Madrid (ACM) in a turnover ceremony held at the Philippine Embassy in Madrid on 06 May 2021.

In his Acceptance Remarks, Ambassador Lhuillier asked for support and cooperation from his counterparts in bringing the ASEAN’s engagement with Spain to a higher level by promoting greater awareness and cultural understanding of the ASEAN countries among the Spanish people and more economic ties between Spain and ASEAN.

Due to improving health conditions in Spain, it was the first time in seven months that the ACM Heads of Mission had a face-to-face meeting.

The ACM is composed of the respective embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in Madrid. END
