Ambassador Romualdez Presents Credentials to the Governor-General of Jamaica

WASHINGTON D.C, 24 May 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez virtually presented his credentials as non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Sir Patrick Allen, Governor-General of Jamaica on 20 May 2021.

Ambassador Romualdez thanked Governor-General Allen for extending hospitality to the Filipinos living and working in Jamaica, and for ensuring their safety and well-being. He also thanked Jamaica for its consistent support for the Philippines’ candidacies in the United Nations and expressed the Philippines’ desire to explore more opportunities to further expand its bilateral relations especially in trade and investment, tourism, climate change and other areas of mutual interest.

Governor-General Allen expressed hope that the Philippines and Jamaica will be able to forge an even closer relationship in both the bilateral and multilateral levels. He also invited Ambassador Romualdez to visit Jamaica when conditions allow.

The Philippines and Jamaica celebrated 31 years of diplomatic relations on 15 May. 

Prior to his presentation of credentials to the Jamaican Governor-General, Ambassador Romualdez also had bilateral discussions with Senator The Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica. END
