ATHENS 30 June 2021 – Newly-appointed Consul ad honorem Charmagne Garcia-Laconico took her oath before Philippine Ambassador to Greece and Cyprus Giovanni E. Palec at the Philippine Embassy in Athens on 21 June 2021, with First Secretary and Consul Judy Barbara G. Robianes and the Laconico family as witnesses. After the oath taking, the Honorary Consul was briefed by First Secretary and Consul Robianes and members of the Philippine Embassy on her duties and responsibilities regarding her appointment.

Her appointment enables the Philippine Government to strengthen its representation in the Republic of Cyprus, enhance bilateral economic ties and cultural exchanges, and further assist our Filipino nationals in need there. Ms. Laconico was formerly a member of the prestigious Bayanihan Dance Company. The Honorary Consul will be opening the Philippine Consulate in Larnaca which will have the jurisdiction over the districts of Larnaca, Limassol and Famagusta in the Republic of Cyprus.  This would be the second Consulate in Cyprus after the Philippine Consulate in the capital city of Nicosia.
