PH Ambassador, Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Commit to Strengthening Philippines and Vietnam’s Trade Relations, Economic Cooperation

HANOI 05 July 2021 — Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Meynardo LB. Montealegre and Vietnam’s newly appointed Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Huong Dien met on 30 June 2021, noting the importance of the 45th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Vietnam and the developments on the trade relations between both countries over the past 45 years.
The Embassy of the Philippines committed to working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in promoting trade relations between the two countries and in further improving economic cooperation in accordance with the Philippines-Vietnam Plan of Action for the Implementation of Strategic Partnership for 2019-2024.
Ambassador Montealegre and Minister Dien acknowledged that the Philippines and Vietnam were at the peak of trade and economic relations before the pandemic and that there is still much room to further strengthen and deepen relations between the countries. Both sides acknowledged the importance of holding regular dialogues between the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, particularly through the Joint Trade Committee Meeting which was last held in Manila in 2017.
