PH Ambassador to Vietnam Meets Vietnam’s Minister of Foreign Affairs
HANOI 16 July 2021 — Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Meynardo LB. Montealegre met with Vietnam’s Foreign Affairs Minister Bui Thanh Son on 13 July 2021 to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of Philippines-Vietnam Diplomatic Relations on 12 July 2021.
During the meeting, Ambassador Montealegre and Minister Son noted that the relations between the Philippines and Vietnam have a solid foundation and that both countries can find ways to further strengthen the relationship even with the challenges presented by the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Son expressed his appreciation for the congratulatory message of Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin on the anniversary of relations mentioning that he held the same views on the undying friendship of our two peoples. The Vietnamese side further expressed their readiness to host the 10th Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) this year so that both governments can take stock of the progress of their relations and set goals to further enhance and deepen their strategic partnership.
Ambassador Montealegre expressed appreciation to the Vietnamese government for its continued support to the country's food security through the exportation of rice to the Philippines and for the consideration accorded to Filipino nationals who are currently unable to return to the Philippines. END
