LOS ANGELES, 16 August 2021 - Philippine Consul General Edgar B. Badajos announced the imminent opening of a Philippine Passport Renewal Center in Los Angeles (LA PaRC), first among Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the United States, to be operated by third-party service provider VFS Global during a Press Conference entitled, “Online Appointment System for Passport, Dual Citizenship and other Consular Services, and the Way Forward” held on 11 August 2021.
“We recommended the establishment of LA PaRC to the DFA to further augment the number of passport applications we are able to process during weekdays, in outreach missions and specially-selected consular Saturdays,” said Consul General Badajos
The Consul General also stressed that passport application through LA PaRC is optional and only serves to add to the choices available to overseas Filipinos.
Joining the Consul General in the panel were Deputy Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III and Ms. Sulani Yashpal, VFS Global Head of Business Development for North America. The session was moderated by Information Officer, Ms. Mary Grace “Joss” Leaño.
According to VFS Global Head of Business Development for North America, Ms. Sulani Yashpal, VFS has already processed over 160,000 PHL passports since her company began its partnership with the DFA in 2019 and has facilitated the establishment of PaRCs in five Middle Eastern cities: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar.
LA PaRC will initially operate Mon-Fri from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. END
