SANTIAGO, 27 August 2021- The Philippine Embassy in Chile feted seventy five years of Philippines-Chile Diplomatic relations with a reception attended by Chilean Foreign Ministry officials, members of the diplomatic corps, government partners, and friends of the Embassy on 19 August 2021.
In his video message, DFA Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. recalled the common Hispanic heritage and cultural linkages between the two countries, while underscoring milestones in bilateral relations and cooperation. On the other hand, Chilean Foreign Minister Andres Allamand highlighted the Philippines’ and Chile’s strong commercial ties, robust political dialogue, and close cooperation in various areas.
Philippine Ambassador to Chile Ma. Teresita C. Daza said in her remarks that the celebration not only shows what has been accomplished throughout the years, but also what remains to be done to further deepen the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Chile.
Even as a limit on the number of guests was observed, the Embassy held a memorable reception featuring the best of Philippine culture.
Favorite Filipino dishes were served during the event, while the exhibit of Filipino garments, artisanal products, food exports and delicacies displayed in the Fiestas Filipinas booth was a feast for the eyes.
The guests were also entertained with a cultural festival video jointly prepared by the Philippines’ NCCA-Bayanihan and the Ministry of Culture-Ballet Folklorico Nacional (BAFONA) of Chile. END
