PH Ambassador-Designate Meets with the Head of Boğaziçi University in Istanbul

ISTANBUL 16 August 2021 — Much promise and optimism on the growing educational and academic ties between the Philippines and Turkey was the focus during the meeting between Philippine Ambassador-designate to Turkey Maria Elena P. Algabre, and the interim rector of Boğaziçi University, Dr. Naci Inci on 16 August 2021.
Ambassador-designate Algabre and Dr. Inci exchanged views on the enormous benefits for students and academicians alike in both countries with strengthened and increased educational linkages and exchanges between the Philippines and Turkey. They also discussed the prospects of mounting potential joint activities including academic exchanges and seminars to raise awareness of the Philippines to students of the university.
Founded in 1863, Boğaziçi University is widely-regarded as the premier educational institution in Turkey and many of their graduates have reached high levels of influence in the political, economic and socio-cultural fields. Only the top 800 of the approximately 1.8 million participants in the annual Turkish university entrance examination are admitted to the University. Former Philippine Ambassador to Finland Ma. Angelina M. Sta. Catalina graduated as summa cum laude from Boğaziçi University with a Master of Arts in Ottoman History in 1991. END
