PH Embassy in Manama Celebrates Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2021
MANAMA 01 September 2021 – As part of the celebration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa, the Philippine Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain and Sentro Rizal Manama, in cooperation with the Filipino Organization, Wika Toastmasters Club, organized a virtual celebration entitled, “Kuwentuhan, Balagtasan, at Musikahan sa Pasuguan” on 27 August 2021.
Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver delivered the opening remarks for the event, followed by a video message of Dr. Arturo P. Casanova, President of Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino. Ms. Amor dela Cruz, President of Wika Toastmasters Club, introduced her club and urged Overseas Filipinos in the Kingdom to deepen their knowledge of the language.
The four-part event aims to promote Filipino culture, while encouraging young Filipinos in Bahrain to learn the Filipino language. For the Kwentuhan session, a story-telling presentation was delivered by Ms. Melinda Nomananap, a high school teacher and voice artist. This was followed by Wika Toastmasters Club Balagtasan performance.
For the Musikahan part of the event, Beatriz Erica Advincula, an elementary school student of the Philippine School Bahrain, rendered a song entitled, “Kalawakan.” The first Filipino champion of the Saudi Arabian Toastmasters Annual Conference 2021 (SATAC 2021), Mr. Ricardo Chuidian, Jr., delivered an entertaining speech for the Talumpati portion of the event.
