PH Consulate General in Hong Kong Celebrates Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2021

HONG KONG 03 September 2021 — In celebration of the National Language Month 2021 (“Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2021”) in August, under the framework of its Sentro Rizal, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong produced an online event in line with this year's theme, “Filipino at mga Wikang Katutubo sa Dekolonisasyon ng Pag-iisip ng mga Pilipino” on 29 August 2021.

The online event featured spirited cultural performances - including traditional dance, renditions of folk songs, poetry reading, and storytelling - by various Filipino cultural groups in Hong Kong.

In his opening remarks, Consul General Raly   L. Tejada underscored the need to encourage the use of the Filipino language in works related to science, education, and media, among others. He also reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to conduct programs and activities geared towards Hong Kong Filipino youth in order to help them reconnect to their roots and improve their grasp and appreciation of Filipino language and culture.

The online event was streamed live on the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong’s official Facebook page, which garnered a total of 6,000 views, 386 reactions, 99 shares and 190 comments. END
