DFA Special Repatriation Flight Brings Home 67 Distressed Overseas Filipinos From Cambodia

PHNOM PENH 02 September 2021 – The Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Office of Migrant Workers’ Affairs, and the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia, brought home 67 distressed overseas Filipinos from Cambodia (including two minors, 12 senior citizens, and one pregnant woman) via a sweeper flight that also repatriated Filipinos from Laos, and Myanmar.
The repatriates were affected by the pandemic and lost their jobs, or were stranded in Cambodia. They expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Philippine government and the Embassy for organizing the flight, providing welfare assistance, and helping them return home to be with their families and loved ones.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia has facilitated the repatriation of 1,037 distressed overseas Filipinos. END
