DFA-Chartered Flight Brings Home 88 Filipinos from Bahrain

MANAMA 15 September 2021 – As part of its ongoing Repatriation Program, the Philippine Embassy successfully repatriated 88 stranded Filipinos in Bahrain via chartered sweeper flights mounted by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The repatriates from Bahrain boarded the Cebu Pacific aircraft in the evening of 12 September 2021, and joined 280 other repatriates from Lebanon and Syria. The latest batch of repatriates from Bahrain was composed of 73 Filipinos in distress, 11 pardoned detainees, 2 infants, and 2 minors, of which 77 are fully vaccinated.
As part of safety procedures during repatriation, the passengers were all tested for COVID-19 through the funding of the Philippine Embassy. The Embassy also provided the repatriates with COVID-19 travel kit which included PPE suits, face masks, face shields, gloves and hand sanitizers. Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver personally led the Embassy Team at the airport to assist the repatriates from Bahrain.
DFA-OUMWA and OWWA coordinated with the concerned agencies in the Philippines to facilitate the quarantine requirements of the repatriates upon their arrival in the Philippines. END
