HANOI 16 September 2021 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Vietnam, successfully repatriated via a commercial Philippine Airlines flight an additional 96 overseas Filipinos from Vietnam on 15 September 2021.
Among those repatriated were 29 Filipinos who were stranded, and previously booked on an earlier repatriation flight, but were unable to join because of strict COVID-19 protocols. The repatriates mostly came from Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces in South Vietnam, where an extreme lockdown is in place because of COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of safety procedures during repatriation, the passengers were all tested for COVID-19. The Embassy also facilitated the issuance of exit visas to the repatriates.
To date, the Embassy has repatriated overseas Filipinos in Vietnam via two chartered repatriation flights in April 2020 and August 2021, and one special commercial repatriation flight in July 2020, in addition to various other commercial flights. END
