PH Embassy in Yangon Facilitates the Return of 13 Filipinos to Manila

YANGON 07 October 2021 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar, in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) repatriated 13 distressed Filipinos (7 men and 6 women) to Manila, Philippines on 05 October 2021 through a sweeper flight that also repatriated Filipinos from Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Through the efforts of the Embassy, in close coordination with the DFA Office of Migrant Workers Affairs, the airfare from Yangon to Manila of nine Filipinos who requested assistance was paid through the Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Fund. The Embassy also provided seven Filipinos from Thahtay Kyun Island (660 kilometers from Yangon) and one Filipino from Myawaddy (417 kilometers from Yangon) with land transportation and temporary accommodation in Yangon to enable them to join the repatriation flight.
The sweeper flight arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 1:30PM on the same day. This is the 23rd flight facilitated by the Embassy since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 11th for this year. END
