23 May 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in New York conducted back-to-back consular and passport outreach to Filipinos in Albany, New York and Greenwich, Connecticut last May 10 and 11, in cooperation with Filipino community organizations led by Ms. Wendy Press in Albany and Mr. Romy and Juliet Somodio and Ms. Elsa Lambert in Connecticut.
In Albany, a total of 49 passports and 29 Philippine citizenship retention/reacquisition applications and 27 notarial services were accepted. Meanwhile, in Greenwich, a total of 7 passports, and 8 notarial and Philippine citizenship retention/ reacquisition applications were processed.
During the outreach, the Consular team also conducted the first overseas voters registration for the 2016 national elections. A total of 56 qualified Filipinos were registered. The registration for qualified Filipinos was launched last May 6 and will run until 31 October 2015. All qualified Filipinos are encouraged to register at the Consulate from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily or during consular outreach programs. A registrant must bring his/her valid Philippine passport during registration.
The next scheduled outreach will be on July 26 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Bergenfield, New Jersey in cooperation with the Fil-Am of Bergenfield led by Mr. Lito Pernia. The schedule of upcoming outreach missions is available on www.newyorkpcg.org. END
