Milan

23 May 2014 - Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro met on May 21 with Father Luigi Ramazzotti, Chaplain of the Filipino community in Venice, and the Filipino association leaders who warmly welcomed the Consulate officers and staff in the beautiful city of Venice.

It was a good opportunity for the new Consul General to meet the community and exchange views on future projects and collaboration between the Philippine Consulate General in Milan and the communities such as the mobile consular missions in Veneto region which aim to bring the Consulate nearer to Filipinos outside Milan. The leaders shared their sentiments and experiences in their long years of stay in Venice.

Filipino workers in Venice are highly regarded for their hard work and reliability. Most of them work in hotels, restaurants, and casinos. The community remains to be united with the constant support of the chaplaincy. They expressed their appreciation to Fr. Luigi who assists them when dealing with local authorities.

Venice is located in the Veneto region and is about 280 kilometers northeast of Milan. It plays host to over 2,000 Filipino migrants. END
