Xiamen

23 May 2014 – The Sining Kumintang ng Batangas (SKB) staged a masterful performance replete with colorful costumes, skillful dance movements, and radiant smiles during a cultural event marking the formal opening of the 16th Cross-Strait Fair for Economy and Trade (CFET), which was held on May 17 at the International Conference and Exhibition Center in Fuzhou City, the capital of Fujian province.

CFET is an annual, large-scale, comprehensive trade and investment exhibition co-sponsored by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Also known as the “5.18” event, it opens in May each year and has the overarching theme of promoting cross-strait cooperation to strengthen economic and trade exchanges.

The event, which also showcased performances by cultural dance groups from countries in Asia, Europe and Africa, was witnessed by more than 1,000 foreign delegates, including the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen and other diplomatic missions in China, and high ranking local government officials.

The participation of SKB – whose performance during the 4th Nanyang Culture Festival in Xiamen in April 2014 was well praised by Chinese officials – is another concrete step towards deepening people-to-people exchange between the Philippines and China. END
