HANOI 21 October 2021 — The Philippine Embassy in Vietnam, in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs, repatriated 79 overseas Filipinos from Vietnam on 20 October 2021, via commercial Philippine Airlines flight PR592. The flight departed from Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City at 9:30 AM, and arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 1:30 PM on the same day.

The distressed Filipino nationals in Ho Chi Minh City requested the Philippine Government’s assistance as many of them have been without work due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the host country. Prior to this latest repatriation, the Embassy had already repatriated 378 Overseas Filipinos in 2021 alone, and a total 847 overseas Filipinos since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Embassy’s efforts were also greatly assisted by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as well as the offices of Philippine Airlines in Vietnam. END
