LOS ANGELES, 27 October 2021- In line with its efforts to engage with various sectors of the Filipino-American community, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles convened a town hall meeting, with around 40 representatives from Filipino-American- owned travel agencies, and airline companies, such as Philippine Airlines, Japan Airlines, Korean Airlines, China Airlines and Aseana Airlines. The meeting was held at the Consulate General’s Community Hall on 20 October 2021.
Consul General Edgar B. Badajos, in his welcome remarks, provided a brief overview of the Consulate’s consular operations and the protocols put in place by the Consulate General for its consular services. Said protocols are being implemented in accordance with local restrictions on public gatherings and other health safety orders. The Consul General also conveyed his appreciation to all the guests for their willingness to work with the Consulate General in championing Philippine travel and tourism.
Resource speakers from the Consulate General provided presentations on relevant topics, such as on the latest issuances from the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) regarding travel to the Philippines; visa requirements for foreign nationals allowed to enter the Philippines while under community quarantine; efforts to support the Philippine tourism industry and hasten tourism recovery; health and safety guidelines governing the operations of accommodations establishments under the “new normal”, and on business prospects and trade opportunities in the Philippines.
A Q&A followed after the presentations, which provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions regarding updated rules and regulations on entering the Philippines and on the Consulate General’s consular services. END.
