“Mangan Ta Na” with Chef Claude Tayag

Addressing the crowd in both Spanish and English, Chef Claude explains how difficult it was to standardize Filipino recipes, as each cook’s ingenuity is at play in making do with the available ingredients of the season. What remains, Chef Claude adds, was the taste and the aroma of the food.
Over 30 guests attended the event, a majority of which were Spanish influencers and food journalists and critics. Chef Claude served a four-course meal consisting of sisig, bangus sinigang, pork adobo and halo-halo. (Madrid PE photos)
As part of the Philippines’ campaign #MoreFunAwaits, influencers were provided with loot boxes containing Filipino products, including Don Papa rum, dried mangoes, Malagos chocolate, and food mixes to keep the Philippines as top-of-mind tourist destination through its food. (Madrid PE photo)
The Philippine Embassy partnered with Filipino-owned Banana Leaf restaurant, whose owners and cooks assisted in the cooking and plating of the dishes. Tables were adorned with Philippine textiles for a Filipino vibe. (Madrid PE photos)
