PH Ambassador leads Asian Ambassadors Group’s meeting with Special Envoy of the Czech Republic to the Indo-Pacific

PRAGUE 11 November 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ombra T. Jainal, Dean of the Asian Ambassadors Group in Prague (AAGP), led the group’s meeting with Ambassador Libor Sečka, Special Envoy of the Czech Republic to the Indo-Pacific, at the Korean Residence on 10 November 2021.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jainal recognized the increasing interaction between Asia and Europe, while noting the common interests of the two regions as stated in the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific and the EU Strategy on the Indo-Pacific, and expressed confidence that such would contribute to the stability, peace, security, and prosperity in the regions.  

Ambassador Sečka pointed out that the decision of the Czech Government to assign a special envoy to the Indo-Pacific region means that it is giving greater attention to the political and economic developments in the region. Among its interests are the general implementation of the rule of law, security (including cyber security), effective multilateralism, connectivity, and fair trade. Being an industrial and export-oriented country, the Czech Republic intends to increase its trade relations with countries in the Indo-Pacific.

The meeting discussed the Czech Republic’s view of the Indo-Pacific, its position on the EU Strategy on the Indo-Pacific, and its priority areas for partnership and cooperation with countries in the region, bilaterally and regionally.

Ambassadors from the Philippines, China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, India, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Iran comprise the AAGP. END
