PARIS, 23 November 2021– The Philippines was elected by the UNESCO General Conference as a member of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) Intergovernmental Council for the term 2021-2025 on 18 November 2021.

IPDC is the only multilateral forum on the United Nations system designed to mobilize the international community to discuss and promote media development in developing countries. The IPDC Council is the standard-setting and policy-making body of the IPDC. 

For its membership in the IPDC Intergovernmental Council, the Philippines shall be represented by Executive Director Usec. Joel Sy Egco and Atty. Pericleo Solis, Jr. of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS), supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs, UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines (UNACOM), and the Permanent Delegation of the Philippines to UNESCO.

Other Members of the Intergovernmental Council are: Argentina, Austria, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Gambia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mongolia, Namibia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Sweden, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay, and Zambia.
