28 May 2014 - The Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) Center in Milan held a trade fair from May 16 to 18 dubbed “Tuttaunaltrafesta Family” (A Very Special Family Event) in the courtyard of its missionary house which was participated in by different migrant communities that put up booths selling products and native crafts from all over the world. The three-day event also showcased recreational activities and entertainment such as cultural presentations, workshops, and concerts.  

The multicultural event was formally opened on May 16 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro, as the Philippines was chosen as the host country of this year’s celebration. She was joined by Mr. Paolo Giovanni del Nero, Councilor for Economic Development of the City of Milan, and Mr. Paolo Verri, Head of the Italian Pavilion of EXPO 2015.

On May 18, the Filipino community presented the Sinulog dance by the Cebuanos and Friends’ Association, the Santa Cruzan by the Mabini Hometown Association, and a chorale production from the Santa Maria del Carmine Chorale and Children’s Choir. Vice Consul Helen Sayo attended on behalf of the Philppine Consulate General in Milan. 

The evening concluded with the celebration of a Holy Mass, concelebrated by Italian and Filipino priests, dedicated to the two Filipino martyr saints, St. Lorenzo Ruiz and St. Pedro Calungsod, and in memory of the three PIME missionary priests who died in the Philippines, Fr. Tullio Favali (1985), Fr. Salvatore Carzedda (1992) and Fr. Fausto Tentorio (2011).

Fr. Tentorio served the indigenous communities in Mindanao for over 32 years. END
