SEOUL, 03 December 2021 — Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Maria Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega sent off 539,430 COVID-19 vaccine doses of Vaxzevria (formerly known as the AstraZeneca vaccine) to the Philippines on 29 November 2021. Ambassador Dizon-De Vega signed the donation agreement on behalf of the Philippines to facilitate the vaccine delivery.

As a testament of solidarity between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Korea, the vaccines were a timely donation from the ROK government during the Philippines’ “Bayanihan Bakunahan” campaign, a three-day national vaccination drive from 29 November to 01 December which aims to inoculate nine million Filipinos.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr and colleagues from the Department of Health welcomed the shipment in Manila on the evening of 30 November 2021. END
