PH Consulate General in Chongqing hosts exploratory meeting on coop between Paraňaque, Guiyang Cities
The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing (top row, right) hosted an online meeting between Guiyang City officials, namely, Mr. Li Zejun, Mr. Xu Xianwen, Ms. Zheng Xuke, and Ms. Deng Weijia (center row, right) from Guizhou Province, China, and Paraňaque City officials, Ms. Eva Nono (top row, left), Councilor Vandolph Quizon (center row, left), and Mr. Mario Jimenez (bottom row) to discuss a proposal to establish a sister-city relations between the two cities.
CHONGQING 14 December 2021 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing facilitated the first virtual meeting to discuss prospects for a sister city relationship between Paraňaque City and Guiyang City, Guizhou Province on 08 December 2021. Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo delivered introductory remarks and moderated the online meeting.
Representing Paraňaque City were Councilor Vandolph Quizon, Chairperson of the Committee on External Affairs, City Council; Ms. Eva T. Nono, Head of the External Relations, Office of the City Mayor; and Mr. Mario L. Jimenez, Social Services and Public Information Officer. Speaking for Guiyang City were Mr. Li Zejun, Executive President of Guiyang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Mr. Xu Xianwen, Division Chief for External Communication and Cooperation of Big Data Administration; Ms. Zheng Xuke, Executive President of China Council for Promotion of International Trade (Guiyang); and Ms. Deng Weijia of the Guiyang Education Bureau Office.
Both sides presented an overview of their respective cities’ profile, strengths, and advantages. Their discussions surfaced mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in the fields of trade, education, tourism, ecological protection, big data, and COVID-19 management. Both parties expressed interest in studying further the proposal to forge sister city relations and the intent to take the initial steps, based on their respective internal procedures, to carry the proposal forward.
The Philippine Consulate General will continue to facilitate discussions between the two cities with a view to supporting the overarching objective of promoting friendly bilateral ties between the Philippines and China. END
