PH envoy, Ankara Mayor discuss enduring PH-Turkey people-to-people relations

ANKARA, 14 December 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Maria Elena P. Algabre and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş discussed the enduring ties between the Philippines and Turkey firmly anchored on the solid people-to-people relations in a meeting on 09 December 2021.  

Both agreed that despite the vast geographic distance, the connections are close and there are various potentials for Philippine-Turkish partnership to further strengthen through cooperation in trade, defense, tourism, culture, and education.

Mayor Yavaş observed how the COVID-19 pandemic reinforced the need and urgency for the two countries to work even more closely together. The Philippine Ambassador conveyed appreciation for the kind treatment to the more than 700 Filipinos in the city of Ankara, including assistance from the Office of the Mayor extended during the height of the pandemic in 2020.
