28 May 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz paid a courtesy call on the new Minister of Industry of Lebanon Mr. Hussein Hajj Hassan on May 6 to personally convey to him the Philippines’ felicitations and best wishes on his new appointment. The Ambassador also gave him a briefing on the current status of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Minister Hassan, who was previously the Minister of Agriculture, informed Ambassador Ruiz that he is keen to support bilateral initiatives to intensify trade and business links between the Philippines and Lebanon.

Ambassador Ruiz also took the opportunity to inform him about the Embassy’s efforts to advance and protect the rights of Filipino workers in Lebanon and to register them as overseas voters for the May 2016 presidential elections. END
