PH takes centerstage as guest country of honor at 7th China Maritime Silk Road Expo

XIAMEN 12 January 2021 — The Philippines was Country Guest of Honor (GCH) at the 7th China (Quanzhou) Maritime Silk Road International Brand Expo held at the Shishi Clothing City Art Exhibition Center, Shishi City, Fujian Province on 24 to 26 December 2021. The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Xiamen successfully organized a Philippine Pavilion as GCH.
The Philippine Pavilion was inaugurated by PCG officials led by Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena and by Chinese government officials led by the Director of the Exhibition Department of the China Chamber of International Commerce Mr. Niu Liangliang.
Also among those who joined the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Philippine side were Philippine Embassy in Beijing Consul General Dinno Oblena, Vice Consul Elaine Mae V. Laruan Hernandez, and PCG Xiamen’s Political and Economic Officer Faith P. Bautista.
The President of Fujian China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Mr. Xu Min, Vice Mayor of Quanzhou People’s Government Ms. Wang Zhihong and Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shishi Municipal Committee Ms. Shi Xiaoying completed the Chinese officials line-up.
The Philippine Pavilion occupied a total of 488 sq meters and featured 42 booths. The Pavilion featured a 4 x 2.5 meters LED screen at the entrance which was utilized to showcase video presentations from the Philippines and from the different participating companies. Philippine companies like Liwayway/Oishi, Bench, BDO Unibank, Sunnjef Plantation Inc., Philippine GBCB/BBB International Logistics, etc. joined the Philippine Pavilion.
Also present were companies doing cross-border e-commerce business with China like the newly-established MonMall platform, or are engaged in commodities trading like Asia Landmark, Merry Season, Island Fun, LK Coffee, etc. Chinese companies with presence in the Philippines such as Yingke Global, Fujian Fulaigao Biotechnology (Flago), Tyko Group, Fujian Tianle, etc. joined. A group of companies owned by returning overseas Chinese called the Economic Promotion Association of Returned Overseas Chinese from the Philippines in Shishi City participated with eight booths.
The exhibition attracted 150 enterprises from 20 countries and regions including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Chile, Japan, Italy, Spain, Australia, Russia, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and VietNam. END
