Philcongen Xiamen influences ‘influencers’
XIAMEN 19 January 2022 — Philippine Consul General to Xiamen Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena, spoke before a live audience of 300 “influencers,” Chinese government leaders, business practitioners, media professionals, and cultural groups as well as to 100,000 online viewers during the First ASEAN China Online Influencers Conference held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province on 11 to 13 January 2022 and invited everyone to visit and invest in the Philippines once the situation normalizes.
Consul General Oblena also granted Global Times Online an interview and spoke about the internet celebrity economy as a brand new field and means for cooperation in the digital economy era. She also promoted handmade luxury labels of the Philippines which have already gained prominence and international recognition from European and American centers of fashion. She also recommended south sea pearls from the Philippines as an internet-famous product because they represent the beauty of the Philippines and the ingenuity of the Filipino craftsmen.
The Philippine Consul General from Xiamen joined representatives of other ASEAN countries in a meeting with Fujian People’s Government’s Executive Vice-Governor Madame Guo Ningning. Madame Guo reminded Consul General Oblena of the Zhangzhou government’s “Twin Parks, Twin Cities” proposal and requested for the latter’s help in promoting Minnan Cuisine.
Having in mind the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement which took effect on 1 January 2022 and presenting new opportunities in internet celebrity economy with Fujian as an important starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, the Conference was organized by the ASEAN-China Center, Huangqiu.com/Global Online, the Department of Commerce and the Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian Province and the Fuzhou Municipal Government as well as by the China Public Diplomacy Association, and the Chinese Mission to ASEAN.
