Philcongen LA, FDCP discuss promotion of PH film industry in Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, 08 February 2022– Officials from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) headed by Undersecretary Mary Liza Diño, along with Ms. Emelita Alquiza and Los Angeles-based producer/director John Paul Su, called on Consul General Edgar B. Badajos on 03 February 2022 wherein both sides discussed opportunities for possible collaboration on the exhibit of Philippine films in Southern California and marketing the Philippines to foreign production houses as a desirable location for movie and TV filming.

Undersecretary Diño presented FDCP’s current programs, which include bringing Philippine movies to the U.S. to promote the country’s film industry and enhance the image of the Philippines abroad. She further informed the Consul General about the assistance her agency may provide to the Consulate General’s cultural diplomacy programs as part of their Philippine Embassies Assistance Program (PEAP).

Consul General Badajos conveyed his deep appreciation to and support for the initiatives of FDCP and discussed the Consulate’s planned cultural diplomacy projects, particularly the proposed screening of Filipino films in May and October of this year. END.
